FAQs

How important is the base under the asphalt ?
The base is the most important part of the job. It should consist of no less than 6″ of compacted granular materials. Like everything else in life, the foundation is crucial.

How thick should the asphalt be?
For a residential driveway, 2″ of compacted asphalt is adequate.

How long should I stay off the new asphalt?
Generally speaking, 3 to 4 days is plenty of time for the asphalt to cool. It takes 45 days to cure. The more it is used the harder it will get as it is continually being compacted.

Should I seal my driveway?
Sealer will help repel oils, if spilt on asphalt, but should not be applied in the first 45 days.
